April 16, 2024
Dear Stewards and Friends of St. Demetrios,
I pray all is well with you and your families. There are several things I'd like to share since my last update, November l, 2023.
Thank you to our 2024 Stewards. We remain focused on our 2024 Stewardship goal of $185,500. Periodic updates are posted in the bulletins and Coffee Hour room. If you have not yet returned your stewardship form, please do so today. If, as a parish family, we remain focused on being fiscally responsible, we will be able to reach our goal of building a new church to glorify God. Forms are available on the candle stand and online in the Stewardship tab on our website.
Our St. Demetrios Café will be opening soon. Thanks to several generous donors, new floors have been installed, and there is a fresh coat of paint on the walls. Organizers have been contacting food distributors and will be placing orders soon. All proceeds will go to the New Building and Land Fund.
The New Building and Land Committee has been working with our architects to develop a site plan. Three options were shared in the April newsletter, on our church website, and on the candle stand. At the upcoming Spring Parish Assembly, Sunday, April 21 st, the Committee will present these options and share a recommendation for one of them for our future sanctuary. 2024 Stewards in good standing will vote on this recommendation.
The Capital Campaign Foundation has been working with the Metropolis and Steve Tibbs, a capital campaign consultant, to develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy that will support the construction of our church and build community trust. The Committee will present the result of its work at our Parish Assembly and offer a motion to approve authorization to open a new Restricted Land and Building Fund.
Please plan to attend our Spring Parish Assembly, this Sunday, April 21st, when we will share more detailed updates of our parish and offer ways for you to become involved in the future of our beloved St. Demetrios.
Join us April 28th for a Palm Sunday luncheon sponsored by AHEPA, with rolls and desserts provided by
Daughters of Penelope, and beautiful table décor provided by Philoptochos. All proceeds support St. Demetrios.
Join us also for the many beautiful services offered during Great Lent and Holy Week and for our Agape Service followed by our Pascha Picnic, May 5d1
We are looking for sponsors to underwrite the tent we need for our Palm Sunday and Pascha luncheon picnics and throughout Holy Week services. We are also looking for sponsors to underwrite sodas, water, and wine for both picnics. Please contact me if you are interested in becoming a sponsor.
Thank you for your prayers and continued commitment and service to our Church, and on behalf of the entire Parish Council, we wish you and your families a Blessed Lenten journey to Pascha.
In Christ’s Service,
Bill Anastopoulos
St. Demetrios Parish Council President
